About Us

Boxted Runners was founded by Vanessa Dolling in June 2017, with a clear vision to be the friendliest, most encouraging and most supportive running club for everyone in north Essex / Suffolk. The aim was to inspire people who haven’t run before to come along, give it a go and join in our running community too.

The club has grown from strength to strength since launch and in the first 18 months saw the numbers on our weekly sessions exceed 30 plus runners.

Not bad considering we started out with only me and 6 people on our very first run together back in June 2017!

Our key value is to always be able to offer a club for everyone, all abilities, non-judgemental, a place where anyone can come along or just turn up and feel very much part of our friendly and supportive running community.

In December 2017, just 6 months after our first club meet, Boxted Runners were extremely proud to announce the formation of our club committee resulting in our club affiliation with England Athletics.

In May 2018, after 6 months of planning, we held our very own England Athletics approved “Boxted 10k” running event. We attracted more than 600 runners to the village in our very first year, raising over £6000 for the local village school.

Boxted Runners is definitely a huge part of the village and surrounding areas now and we can’t remember what life was like without it!

We now have a total of 3 qualified Level 2 Coach in Running Fitness (CiRF) and 10 Level 1 Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) Coaches, which has made a huge difference in helping and motivating our members to develop and achieve their running goals.

We currently have 5 sessions per week

  • Tuesday @ 7:30pm (Highwoods Tesco)
  • Thursday @ 9:00am (Boxted Village Hall)
  • Thursday @ 7:00pm (Boxted Village Hall – Summer or Northern Gateway – Winter)
  • Saturday @ 8:30am (Boxted Village Hall)
  • Sunday @ 8:00am (Boxted Village Hall)

These sessions deliver a variety of training types to help our members with specific running training requirements. We also like to be very social, so we aim to make all of our sessions fun and inclusive of every single runner regardless of speed, age or ability!

Our exciting journey continues at Boxted Runners, with lots of things planned for the future, giving our members even more great reasons to be part of our running community.

The future is definitely bright and as our club grows our vision to be the friendliest, most encouraging and most supportive running club for everyone continues.

Happy running everyone!

Vanessa Dolling
