The big race of the weekend this week was the 7.5 and 15 mile Colchester Harriers annual road race. Whilst many of the Boxted Runners were taking it easy this weekend in preparation for the upcoming Colchester Half Marathon next week, Becky was taking on the challenging 7.5 mile route.
On a damp and blustery Sunday, Wing took on the Vitality Big Half in London. Before the race saw the worse of the weather with 25MPH winds and driving rain. This didn’t dampen Wings spirit and fight though, as although needing to battle against the wind, the sun came out and she recorded a fantastic time of 1:56:38.
This week, the Boxted Runners were invited to take part in a Charity Run with the Framlingham Flyers in Aid of the British Heart Foundation at Bastings Hall
On a glorious Sunny Sunday, with unseasonal barmy conditions for February Anna Anderson performed magnificantly, running the Tarpley 10 mile road race, passing through beautiful countryside along gently undulating country lanes.
This week saw Four Boxted Runners taking part in the inaugural QE Olympic Park Half, with a field of more than 4,000 runners. On a cold, damp and blustery day, not ideal for running, it was an early morning start.
This week saw the first half Marathon of the season for Boxted runners with Tania Stacey taking part for Boxted Runners in a chilly but gloriously sunny Great Bentley Half Marathon on Sunday – Finishing in a great time of 1:50:27 coming in 355 place out of 666 runners.
This week saw Five Boxted Runners take part in the Hadleigh Legacy 10k in Essex. This was a hugely challenging but enjoyable off-road 10k using some of the 2012 Olympic MTB course, set within the grounds of Hadleigh Castle. They faced hills, more hills, mud and more mud, but all came away with fantastic results.ย
The first race for Boxted Runners in 2019 saw Becky Day take on the hilly 15 mile Benfleet 15 Mile on 20th January. In Freezing conditions, Becky completed the course in a great time of 2:11:56, coming in to finish 31st female out of 292, and 257th out of a large field of 824. Winning a Gold Medal. Well done Becky ๐๐ป๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐
