        Treasurer

I got involved with Boxted runners through friends at the school. I have always been into sport playing hockey regularly as well so was reasonably easy to convince to join inl. Being art of the running club has really helped me with my fitness and I have made some amazing friends. I enjoy being able to help new members and seeing those come through the beginners group complete their first 5 0r 10km is very rewarding. I find it very hard to motivate myself to run alone but running with the group is so motivational and at times it’s not hard work at all. I am not naturally competitive as a runner but enjoy entering some races to keep my motivation going and also to see others achieve their personal milestones.

On the committee my role is to keep the finances in order. I ensure that members have paid for their membership and kit as well as ensuring our Club membership with England athletics is up to date. I regularly take bags of coins to the bank from beginner’s courses and other events. Coaching courses have been paid for through these funds and organised by myself. Having also been a member of a sports club in various committee roles over the years I hope I also bring some experience in club organisation to the committee as well.

            Caroline Davis

            Club Secretary

I initially got involved with the Boxted Running Committee as I thought it was a great way to bring the community together and help people get fit in the fresh air!  It really is amazing to see the transformation of some of our runners and probably more importantly how people enjoy getting together and running – whether it be to race competitively and push themselves or just for the sheer enjoyment of running with friends.

On the Committe  I organise committee club meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, type these up and distribute accordingly to either the club committee or the 10K steering group committee, I manage and record all inward and outward club correspondence, making sure necessary actions are followed up and communicate any important matters from England Athletics to the club; and manage legal and insurance matters.

Why do I run?   For me, getting into running was quite a turning point.  Some years ago I struggled quite badly with my mental health and running for me was just the outlet I needed to start to feel positive again and commence my road to recovery.  This is why I still run and will continue to do so.  Most people know me and know that I am not especially competitive but I do like to challenge myself to the odd 10K and keep up my fitness but the main reason is the feeling of well being I have after a 5K – being able to clear my head, enjoy the company of others and feel good for the rest of the day is just the ticket.

                Karl Graves

                Welfare Officer & Web Designer

I started running in early 2017 from a position of not being able to run for a minute without stopping, and unable to keep up with my children in the Park. After progressing through the 0-5k App on my phone, soon caught the running bug and entered my first 10k race to keep the motivation. After that first race, and seeing the Boxted Runners at the event, and running past them the following Sunday morning, I decided to join up. I love running with the group and helping other new runners progress.

My role on the committee is firstly as Male welfare officer, making sure the club complies with safeguarding procedures, and if any confidential matters arise related to athletes understand the current and appropriate way to manage such matters.

I also manage both the Boxted Runners and Boxted 10k websites.

                            John Perry

                            Advisor

I am on the committee in an advisory position. I also help with the club membership, people joining the club etc. I look after the race calender listing all the races during the year and try to encourage other runners to enter the races. As I have been taking a few of the photos I would like to think of myself as the unofficial photographer for the club. I also sort trophies/medals for our club race each year and everything related to the start/finish. I would like to think that with my many years of running experience I can pass this on the others. I run to keep fit and encourage others.
